In our kindergarten in Hanoi, children progress is guided by developmentally appropriate assessments including observational checklists, learning journals and ongoing documentation of student work. Teachers monitor growth across key areas such as early literacy, numeracy, communication and motor skills.
Learners are encouraged to take an active role in reflecting on their progress through class routines like goal circles or learning talks. They set simple, age-appropriate goals such as “I want to write my name” or “I want to share more during circle time” and celebrate their achievements as they grow.
Kindergarten children develop foundational life skills such as independence, cooperation, emotional regulation and problem-solving through meaningful, play-based experiences. These skills are intentionally supported through classroom routines, structured play and initiatives, including social-emotional learning circles or Kindness Projects.
During activities such as collaborative block building, students practise negotiating roles and resolving conflicts, building confidence, resilience and a sense of belonging in a supportive learning environment.
Young learners are immersed in a bilingual environment from the start, with English and Vietnamese integrated across all areas of learning. The purpose of the Intro program - "Get Ready for Grade 1" is to establish a strong foundation for young learners in a safe and caring, activity-based environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children.
